Sorry If I missed this in the post, but did you fulfill the orders yourself? Or were the pages structured like product pages on an ecomm site but then linked out to the specific product on the affiliate merchants page?
Also wondering about the PBN, you mentioned you spent only a few hundred total (not counting your time) wouldn't one need to invest several hundred to create a half decent PBN?
My only concern is picking a product etc that does not convert well, should the site be tested with something like FB or Google ads before investing all those resources into rolling out the SEO campaign?

There are a million places to source your products but if you can go direct to the manufacturer that is best.
