Getting the Google spider to show up and getting something indexed are very different things. The only real measure is if the pages show up in Google.

Google does not index content for various reasons. It may due to technical issue or because of low-quality content. in which the technical issues are more common, for a solution I prefer google search console for manual indexing purpose

I have always taught of this, like what if I meet a friend, feed him with e.g100 backlinks to paste on a page and submit that particular page to GSC, being a tier 3, Google crawls and passes link juice till it gets to moneysite, what do you think?

If you have added your website in webmastertool this is the best and more secure way, never take risk.

I could indexed a good amount of automated web 2.0 links

This is 2019 and you have to operate smarter for lasting rankings. Good links will index naturally, while borderline links might not. Also, just because it is indexed does not mean it will help you rank.
