So in the last couple of weeks, I finally experimented with Flippa.
Last month one of my friends told me how a person sold a website with zero earning for $800 on Flippa. This was enough to reawaken my flame about making sites and sell on Flippa. So I checked my websites inventory and found one that I don't give a shit about anymore.
Site Details/Stats:
The site is a niche amazon affiliate site about a computer accessory.
It's monthly earning is around $6 - $8 per month since last 1 year
I don't install GA on my sites anymore but the Ahref traffic is showing 1.2K per month with 3k ranking keywords.
The site main keyword has 36000 per month searches and the closest combination has 26000 searches. My website is ranking on 4th page on both of these keywords for 1 year.
The site is already ranking under the top 5 or some brand name + accessory combinations having 100+ searches
The target market is the USA, of course.
Listing Details
Since this was my first experience, therefore, I wasn't sure about the pricing but based on other sites, I put $1000 as Buy It Now price and $800 as the reserve price (hidden). Another major factor for asking this price is that I really don't have time to work on this project anymore hence, Flipping.
So for the first 2 weeks, nobody messaged me or put any bid but in the last week, I got 3 queries asking for GA access, 1 offer of $250, and 1 query for asking my BIN price.
After replying to these messages, the offer was raised to $500 from $250 and the other guy bid $700.
Then another person asked for the stats etc and he bought the website for the BIN price i.e. $1000.
Now If your site is earning, then Flippa will classify your website as an "Established website". The fee for listing such a website is $49 upfront. You can choose the Auction or Classified. However the best option is the "Auction" as after the Auction ends, your listing will automatically be turned into classified and it will remain live until someone buys it or you delete it.
If your website is sold, then flippa will also take 10% of the selling price. Plus Escrow will charge approx 5% of the amount as well. So out of $1000, I am getting $800.
Consider these charges when deciding a BIN amount.
Tip:
1. Do not add BIN price. There is always a chance that people pay more than your expected price.
Future Plan:
Now I have seen people selling "starter" websites with zero traffic or earnings for $350. I am planning to do such an experiment in the coming month. Also, I am working on how to scale this to launch 2 sites per month and sell 1 on Flippa.
